Happy Halloween!

I know what I'll be doing, in my pillow fort with a bowl of Twizzlers and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

That's right: Watching gruesome morality PSA's about teen vice and sexuality.

Happy All Hallow's Eve!

God, I love that movie.

It's the equilvalent to watching "It's a Wonderful Life" on New Year's Eve, or "A Christmas Story" on Arbor Day.

I am compelled from within to watch that movie every Halloween.

Tonight, I'm hanging with the gang at the condo...and the vote went to watching "Shaun of the Dead" (which I'm not complaining about at ALL.)

But, when we're done, and after Olive's been walked, I'll turn off all the lights, cover my head with a blankie and watch it into the wee hours.

Thank YOU, John Carpenter.

Someday, I will have a mini-fest and watch back to back showings of "Halloween", "The Thing, "The Fog" and "Escape From New York."

But I have to say, as much as I like him, I just don't buy James Woods as a vampire hunter. So that one stays on the shelf.

Well, the James Woods vampire thing is evidence of my theory that John Carpenter knows less and less about how to make movies with each one he makes. Like Merlin living backwards, y'know. Look at the fantastic films you listed above, use "Prince of Darkness" as the turning point (great setup, completely stupid last 20 minutes) and watch things get worse as you go through "Vampires" and "Ghosts of Mars" and "Escape from LA" etc.

Though I will say I enjoy watching Sheryl Lee no matter how bad of a movie she's in. That Jim Belushi-as-Zen-hitman-for-the-mob thing was awful but she was awesome as ever.
